Surfaces reconstructed by FastCSR and FreeSurfer show comparable mesh quality. To assess the mesh quality of the FastCSR surface, we estimated the mesh quality in terms of Q value in the validation set. The Q values of FastCSR (blue dots) and FreeSurfer (purple dots) are illustrated using swarm plots, with the means of each distribution depicted by boxplots with boxes marks the high and low quartiles and whiskers indicating the minimum and maximum values. The Q values obtained with FastCSR (Q_FastCSR = 0.903 ± 0.002) are significantly higher than those of FreeSurfer (Q_FreeSurfer = 0.886 ± 0.003; two-tailed paired t-test, t₍₁₆₁₎ = 122.008, p = 1.462 × 10^–160), indicating greater mesh quality achieved with our approach
